Relay for Life

In 1985, Dr. Gordy Klatt of Tacoma Washington walked around a track for 24 hours and raised $27,000 For the American Cancer Society. Thus was born Relay For Life. It is the largest nonprofit fundraising activity in the world with 2.25 million people participating.

In 2002, our team raised over $6,600

In 2003, our team raised almost $6,000

In 2004, our team rasised over $7,000

In 2006, our goal is $8,000

We made our goal and them some raising over $9,400!

The Relay For Life team would like to thank you for your support at the Salad Lunch on June 5.  We have several fund raisers coming up this summer and would appreciate your participation in as many of them as possible.  On June 25, we will be having an Ice Cream Social from 2 to 4 pm in the Parish House.  What a wonderful way to cool off on a summer Saturday?  Stop by and get a dish of homemade ice cream.  Plans are in the works for something in July, but the details are not worked out yet.  Watch you Sunday bulletins for more details as time gets closer.  We will, once again, have our Silent Auction and Pasta Dinner on Sunday August 7 at 12:00, right after the 10:30 service.  If you will remember from past years, there are always lots of nice things to bid on, and a lot of good natured competition in the bidding.  Finally, the annual Relay Event will be held at R-S Middle School on Friday September 9th.  There is lots to do and plenty of fun to be had by all ages at this event, so plan on coming out and supporting our team and participating in the event at least for a couple of hours.
