Sue Lloyd wants you to know that Myles MacDonald has  died.  They had moved to a retirement community in Tennessee to be near one of their children (don't know how many they had!).  He is survived by his wife Dee who is still in Tenn.!

Grace of God- Past and Present

Let’s begin our story in the year of 1990.  Terry Hagamen began providing food in barns, under bridges, in motels, and various other places where the homeless could be found in our county.  In 1994, these efforts were joined together with Chris Davis, Denver Buchanan, and Chase Baptist Church in forming the Grace of God Rescue Mission.  Herman Mims was the owner of a building on West Main Street in Forest City which was for sale at that time for the price of $80,000.  Mr. Mims donated half of it to the mission and the balance continued to be paid during the next 3 years.  However, on Christmas Eve, Herman Mims gave the building to the mission.  What a wonderful gift for our community to receive!  The building is now used for several purposes.  It is the main office, Bible study and other church related services are held there, and it provides evening meals seven nights a week to needy individuals from 4:45 to 5:45 P.M.

As we pray, “Thy will be done,” His will is to feed, house, and clothe the people in need.  The Grace of God is trying to do just that, and with our help, we can, together, demonstrate God’s love.

Books For Africa

ATTENTION!! The Catherine Chapter of the Jr. Daughters of the King are collecting books for the program "Books for Africa." 40% of school-aged children in Africa do not attend school, and those who do must share a book with 10-20 other classmates. "Books for Africa" wishes to change that. They are looking for 10 years old or newer popular or non-fiction books and 1995 or newer textbooks, encyclopedias, dictionaries, medical, nursing, IT, or law books. They do NOT want magazines, journals, American history or civics books, decorating, wedding, or cookbooks. There is a decorated box in the back of the church to place the books in. Remember to keep them relevant to African children! Thank you for helping the Jr. Daughters with this project.
