 Books For Africa

ATTENTION!! The Catherine Chapter of the Jr. Daughters of the King are collecting books for the program "Books for Africa." 40% of school-aged children in Africa do not attend school, and those who do must share a book with 10-20 other classmates. "Books for Africa" wishes to change that. They are looking for 10 years old or newer popular or non-fiction books and 1995 or newer textbooks, encyclopedias, dictionaries, medical, nursing, IT, or law books. They do NOT want magazines, journals, American history or civics books, decorating, wedding, or cookbooks. There is a decorated box in the back of the church to place the books in. Remember to keep them relevant to African children! Thank you for helping the Jr. Daughters with this project.

"Powderpuff" Self Defense Class

Classes will be held on Saturdays, watch for updates

Each year there are thousands of women in America who are suddenly attached, beaten, raped and even murdered for no less that the simple purse that they carry strapped across their shoulder.  Women are constantly attacked while innocently out walking the dot, changing classes or jogging across a college campus or trail.   Sadly, many of these attacks, though sudden and without warning, could be prevented simply by knowing what to do in a case of an attack.

The instruction provided in this class aims specifically at the female gender any typical attack scenarios.  This particular class provides students effective simple self defense techniques designed to stun and injure the assailant.  By catching the attacker off guard, it allows time for the person being attacked to get away and get help.
